The Republic of Uganda is committed to promoting intra-Africa trade as a way of fast-tracking economic transformation in the continent. This was said by Mr. Nelson Ocheger, the Charge’ d’ Affaires of the Ugandan High Commission to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mr. Ocheger stated this while meeting Dr. Mark Abani, the Chief Executive Officer of MSCA Projects, the company which is promoting the Nigeria International Trade and Investment Conference scheduled to take place in March 21-23, 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria.

To scale up the volume of intra-Africa trade, Mr. Ocheger observed that Government of Uganda, for its part, is promoting and supporting the private sector in the country. To this end, he added, government's investment in infrastructural development has kept increasing annually.

On his part, Dr. Mark Abani, emphasized the need for African governments to work towards reducing the cost of doing business in the continent. He pointed out that the said conference is aimed at bringing together the public and private sector so that through networking, common grounds can be identified that will foster trade and investment within the African continent.

Dr. Mark Abani took the opportunity to invite the Commission and the Ugandan private sector to take part in the forthcoming conference.
